Connie,
Thank you so much for sharing your journey. I, too, have depressive episodes. The last acute episode was the early part of 2008. I was on an antidepressant and psychotherapy for over 10 years and then began a nutritional supplement called ReLiv that helped me manage my depression without medication. During therapy I began reading everything I could get my hands on to help me understand my disease and how to better take care of myself. I came upon The Law of Attraction and put it on my bookshelf and didn't read it for about a year after I purchased it. (I have a tendency to overwhelm myself with too much reading material. I sometimes start several books at a time and don't finish them until sometime later and that was the case with the Attraction book.) The one thing that help me the most is just what you described in this blog. I come back to the moment and focus on gratitude. I never thought of there being a diff between gratitude/appreciation. I keep going back to the line above: Appreciation is a lot like gratitude, except even more powerful. The vibration is pure and resistance-free. It is the equivalent of love and equally powerful. I, too, know the great trickster Martyr very well and as you, I lived with her much too long as well.
Enjoying and appreciating this moment... ST
P.S. Thank you for sharing.
